Monica E. Wagner, MD, FAAP

Dr. Monica Elaine Wagner, M.D, is a board-certified pediatrician and fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  She was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri.  During and after high school, she was blessed to take part in medical missionary trips to Haiti, which were both life-affirming and life changing.  During these trips, she discovered her passion for helping others and caring for children, as well as seeing firsthand how small changes can have a great impact on a child’s life.

After graduating from Duke University in North Carolina, she returned home to attend St. Louis University School of Medicine. While in medical school, she was part of the Sexual Assault Response Team, aiding and advocating for victims during their interviews and examinations in local emergency departments.  She also led the Child Abuse Prevention Task Force during medical school and continued this work in residency and afterwards.

After residency at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, she moved to Colorado and worked in the Denver Children’s Hospital community-based emergency care centers.  After several years, she moved to Franklin, Tennessee and enjoyed working in a primary care setting there until moving to Arizona in 2007.  Dr. Wagner joined Camelback Pediatrics in 2016 and is honored to be part of this amazing team of sincere, unique people who share the same vision for offering the best care to patients and families.

Dr. Wagner is most proud of her wonderful, loving, honest children whose personalities are as unique as the four different states that they were born in. Her older son is working hard in medical school, happily married, and a father to two lovely little girls.  Her older daughter is currently working in Boston in biomedical consulting and is exploring the world while she figures out her next steps.  Her younger daughter graduated from Tufts University with a double major in Theater and Cognitive Brain Science and double minors in Music and Computer Science.   Her younger son is still in the nest, attending high school, and is an avid club soccer player.   In her spare time, Dr. Wagner enjoys yoga, swimming and biking, but most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren.  It is true- they really do grow up too fast.  Cherish every moment.
